Jewish ID card Nazi Germany Historical Item! - Rare identification card that belonged to a Jew man living in Nazi Germany, with an anti-Semitic bold yellow “J” on the first 2 pages. On October 5, 1938, in accordance with the Nuremberg Laws, the Nazis issued a decree invalidating a Jew’s passports and papers until they were marked with a “J” for “Jude”. This was part of calculated scheme to identify and thus persecute the Jews. Later, on January 1, 1939, the Nazis added a proviso which required the Jews with “non-Jewish” names to also add the name “Israel” or “Sarah”. In these papers the name “Israel” was added. In today’s age, with Holocaust denial unfortunately rampant, artifacts like these are important evidence of one of our people’s darkest hours. Excellent condition. 21 by 15 cm. Opening bid $200
