Ahavas Sholom Lemberg 1850. The R. Naftoli Maryles copy. - Novella on the weekly Torah portions by R. Menachem Mendel Hager of Kosov. R. Menachem Mendel Hager (1768-1825), was a son of R. Koppel Chossid who was one of Talmidei Ba’al Shem. He was a talmid of R. Moshe Leib Sassover and R. Tzvi Hirsch of Nadvorna. He served as Rov in Kosov where he led thousands of Chassidim and was enormously respected by many great Tzaddikim including the Chozeh of Lublin and R. Bunim of Peshisca. Founder of the Kosov-Vizhnitz dynasty. R. Naftoli Maryles (1828-1890), was a son of the famous Tzaddik, R. Shimon of Yaroslov. Although enormously respected as a great Talmid Chochom and Tzaddik, he declined to become a Rebbe, although he did accept “Kvitlach” which he placed on his father’s Kever. He served as Rov in Litvisk and was close to many great Tzadikim particularly to R. Sholom of Belz (Sar Sholom) and subsequently following the petirah of The Sar Sholom, to R.
