Unrecorded polemical broadside Mainz 1851. - Unrecorded broadside from the Jewish community of Mainz dated January 1851. With mention of R. Hertz Scheir and the sefer Eileh Divrei Ha’Bris published in Altona 1819. Seemingly regarding a communal dispute between the Orthodox and the Reform. The Jewish community of Mainz dates to the 10th century and was one the important communities in Germany. Rabbeinu Gershom (960–1040), led a great yeshiva there. It was also home of the renowned martyred R. Amnon of Mainz, composer of the Unesanneh Tokef prayer. 22 by 27.5 cm. Good condition some wear along edges. Opening bid $200
