Ohr Chodosh First Edition. Amsterdam 1671. - Classic work on the laws of blessings widely cited by the later authorities, by R. Chaim Buchner. With many approbations [26 in total] , including from R. Yom Tov Lipman Heller (Tosfos Yom Tov), R. Gershon Ashkenazi (Avodas Ha’Gershuni), R. Yaakov Sasportas, R. Yitzchak Abuhav and many others. R. Chaim Buchner (1610-1684), was a talmid of R. Shabse Sofer. He served as Rov in Lackenbach, and later of Vienna, which he left with the expulsion of the Jews in 1670 and moved to Furth. Known as tremendous Talmid Chochom as well as a great Mekubal. On page 41, concerning the blessings on a pleasant scent, there is an interesting handwritten gloss in Hebrew (circa early 1700’s) reading “while I was in England I heard that they refer to “nogelach” as Cloves”.
