Yaakov Kastro (c. 1525–1610), was born in Egypt. In his youth he traveled to Yerusholayim, where he studied under R. Levi Ibn Chaviv, and R. Dovid ben Shlomo Ibn Abi Zimra, the RaDVAZ. He was Rav of The Musta'arabi Jews in Cairo, a position he held until his death. In 1570, he visited Eretz Yisroel, and was the guest of R. Yosef Caro, (Bais Yosef) in Tzfas. He maintained a regular Halachic correspondence with the Bais Yosef some of which were published under the title Ohalei Yaakov (Livorno 1783). With unidentified signatures and library stamps of The Tzanzer Bais HaMedrash in Yerusholayim. With two interesting illustrations depicting The Temple Mount. HaLevi 118.
