Novella on the weekly Torah portions by the renowned R. Shlomo Algazi. R. Shlomo Algazi (1610-1683) was born in Turkey and later moved to Yerusholayim. Known as an outstanding Talmid Chochom and prolific author, he later returned to Turkey to print his seforim. He was prevailed upon to remain as Rav and Rosh Yeshiva in Izmir. He was one of the earliest and most vocal opponents of Shabtai Tzvi and as a result was forced to leave Turkey returning to Yerusholayim. Ultimately, his foresight regarding Shabtai Tzvi proved correct and R. Yaakov Sasportas famously said about him, that his judgement was like that of “a majority of The Sanhedrin”.
