ARA’A D’RABBANAN. FIRST EDITION CONSTANTINOPLE 1745. UNIDENTIFIED RABBINICAL SIGNATURES AND GLOSSES! - Directives in Shas and Poskim compiled in an alphabetical format authored by R. Yisrael Yaakov Algazi. R. Yaakov Yisroel Algazi (1680-1756), was a talmid of R. Chaim Abulafiah (Eitz HaChaim) and R. Yitzchok Rappaport (Batei Kehunah). He was one the great Rabbinical leaders and Kabbalists in Izmir. He later immigrated to Eretz Yisroel where he was one the leaders of Yeshivat Beit El for Mekubalim and Yeshivas Neveh Sholom. He was appointed as Rishon L’Tziyon from 1755 until his passing, and his son R. Yom Tov Algazi (MaHaRI”T Algazi), succeeded him. He authored many seforim, including: Shalmei Tzibur, Ne’os Yaakov, Ma’aneh Lashon, Emes L’Ya’akov, Ara’a D’Rabbanan and Kehillas Yaakov. He also published the Chemdas Ha’Yamim and some bibliographers attribute that he was in fact its author. Ashkenazi press. 36 pages. 30.7 cm. Fair condition, some wear and damage affecting text.
