SIFSEI DA’AS/KLI YAKAR. FIRST EDITION PRAGUE 1610. UNIDENTIFIED SIGNATURES. - Brief novella on the weekly Torah portions in a concise format authored by R. Shlomo Ephraim of Lunshytz known as The Kli Yakar. This was his second published sefer following the Kli Yakar printed in Prague in 1602. In the introduction he writes how he chose the name Sifsei Da’as based on the posuk in Mishlei (20:15) “ ”וכלי יקר שפתי דעת as a second to his first sefer Kli Yakar. R. Shlomo Ephraim (niftar 1619), was born in Lunshytz and learned under the Ma’HarShaL. He served as Rav in Yaraslov and later in Lvov. In 1604, he was invited to Prague to assist the MaHaRaL and eventually succeeded him as Rav and Rosh Yeshiva. He was famous for his fiery Deroshos which stirred the hearts of his listeners. He authored various important seforim, most notably his classic commentary on Chumash Kli Yakar, beloved by both scholars and laymen. Overall fine condition, cut on the left side affecting the text on the left side of the title page as well as many of the subject paragraphs printed alongside the text in the actual sefer.
