MISHNAYOS. SABBIONETA-MANTUA 1559-1562. OVER 150 UNIDENTIFIED RABBINCAL GLOSSES! COMPLETE SET! EXTREMELY RARE! - Rare edition of Mishnayos with the commentaries of The RaMBaM and The Bartenura. This is the second edition of The Bartenura and the first time it was printed together with the commentary of The RaMBaM (See Stefansky Classics 32). The printing of this edition commenced in 1559 in Sabbioneta by the Jewish printer Tuvya Puah. However with the tragic burning of The Talmud in Cremona that year, his printing press was forced to close. One of the partners at the press, Yaakov HaCohen of Gazola travelled with the press to Mantua where he continued the printing of this Mishnayos. See Colophon at the end of Seder Taharos. Seder Zera’im was printed completely in Sabbioneta and from Seder Nashim forward was printed in Mantua. Bibliographers differ with regard to Seder Moed. Some maintain that it was partially printed in Sabbioneta (as the title page indicates), others maintain that printing began in Sabbioneta and was completed in Mantua. In Seder Zera’im, there are over 150 unidentified handwritten rabbinical glosses and diagrams (partially trimmed). In addition, the vowels are added in by hand under the text. • Seder Zera’im, Sabbioneta 1559. 97 pages, 20.4 cm. Overall fine condition, very slight worming and some small professional repairs slightly affecting text. Modern binding, leather spine.
