CLASSICS. EVEN HA'EZER RA’AVAN. PRAGUE 1610. FIRST EDITION. UNIDENTIFIED SIGNATURES AND GLOSS! - Sefer Even HaEzer sometimes known as Sefer RaAVaN or Tzofnas Paneiach was authored by R. Eliezer Ben Nosson (The RaAVaN). Primarily a halachic sefer with responsa at the beginning and end of the sefer, and Psakim arranged in the middle as a commentary to the Babylonian Talmud. The sefer also mentions various accounts of Jewish leaders of that era, often including quotes in their names. As such, in addition to being a fundamental Halachic sefer it is also a reliable source of historical information. R. Eliezer Ben Nosson known as The RaAVaN (circa 1090–1170) was one the early Ba’alei Tosfos a contemporary of the RaShBAM and Rabbeinu Tam. He was related to various other well-known Rishonim, including The Rosh who quotes The RaAVaN as his ancestor (See Rosh Chullin 3:4). Stefansky Classics 225. Katz press. 154 pages. 30 cm.
