R. Rueven Grozovsky. Historic letter to rescue R. Boruch Ber’s wife from the Holocaust. Reisen 1940. Extreme rare. - Lengthy autograph letter by R. Reuven Grozovsky to his brother-in-law R. Yitzchok Turitz. He begins the letter by describing the situation of the Kaminetz Yeshiva, which at the time was in exile in Reisen, and that despite the dire situation, he is able to continue giving shiurim and that his Yeshiva is excelling more than other Yeshivos. The letter continues with a detailed proposed rescue plan to assist R. Boruch Ber’s wife, children and grandchildren escape Europe with the assistance of R. Chaim Ozer Grodzensky, (who passed away just a few months later) and R. Isaac Herzog. Unfortunately this plan never materialized and only individuals survived. R. Refoel Reuven Grozovsky (1886-1958), was a son of R. Shimshon Grozovsky, Dayan in Minsk. He learned in the Slabodka Yeshiva where he became known as an outstanding Lamdan. In 1919, he married the daughter of R. Boruch Ber Leibowitz. He was a talmid of R. Boruch Ber and later assisted his father in law in the Yeshiva. Upon arriving to America in the middle of the war, he became extremely active in the Va’ad Hatzola in an effort to save Jews from the Holocaust. Later he served as Rosh yeshiva in Torah Vo’daas and Beis Medrash Elyon. His seforim Chidushei R. Rueven are widely studied in Yeshivos. Handwritten on both sides of the page.
