R. Shlomo Leib Taback/Erech Shai/Chidushei Halachos (MaHaRaM Schiff). Poryck 1810. Beautiful Copy. - Rare edition of the MaHaRaM Schiff, both parts, with the first edition of the commentary (Biur) of R. Mordechai Mardush (1740-1818), a close Chossid of R. Mordechai of Neshchiz and the Rov of Poryck. He writes that he wrote this commentary together with R. Noach of Ludmir, a close student of the Chozeh of Lublin. With many important approbations including those by R. Levi Yitzchok of Berditchev, R. Yisroel of Kozhnitz, the Yeshuos Yaakov and others. The copy of R. Shlomo Leib Taback, author of Erech Shai, with his signature and stamps. R. Shlomo Leib Taback (1832-1907), was born in Sighet and studied under the Yetev Lev in Gorlitz and the Kol Aryeh. In 1857, the Yetev Lev was appointed as Rav in Sighet and he chose R. Shlomo Leib to serve as head Dayan, a position he served until his passing 50 years later. He was one of the great Talmidei Chachomim and Poskim of his era, particularly famous for his incessant hasmoda. R. Meir Arik said of him “Godol Chachmei Doro”.
