R. Meir Shapiro/ Ohr Ha’Meir. Inscribed copy. First Edition. Pietrikow 1926. - Halachic responsa by R. Meir Shapiro, with an autograph inscription to R. Yehuda Braver of Kansas City. R. Meir Schapiro (1887-1933), was known as a child prodigy and referred to as the Illui of Shotz. He served as Rav of Galina, Sanock, Pietrikow and finally Lublin and was one of the most influential rabbinic leaders in pre-war Poland. He founded Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin which became the flagship Yeshiva of Poland and initiated the Daf Ha’Yomi program which is learned by tens of thousands to this day. In the course of the establishment of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin, R. Meir Schapiro visited America where he travelled extensively among the established Jewish communities fundraising.
