Chaim Palagi (1788-1868), was the Chief Rabbi of Izmir and was one of the greatest Torah leaders and Kabbalists of his generation, held in awe by both scholars and layman, as well as by the government. He was a prolific author, writing over 80 Seforim on many diverse Torah subjects. There are many popular segulas attributed to him and thousands flock to pray at his grave in the Gurcheshme, Turkey.
