Chatzkel Levenstein. There are variant stamps from his tenure as Mashgiach in The Mir and Mashgiach in Yeshivas Ponevezh. Early Kabbalistic sefer regarding the celestial angels, creation of the world, names of the angels, spirits, demons and illustrated amulets. For generations it has been an accepted Segulah to keep the sefer in one’s home as a Segulah for learned and wise children and particularly as a Segulah against fire etc. Includes many Kabbalistic charts and diagrams. R. Chatzkel Levenstein (1895-1974), was one of the pre-eminent Mussar giants of his generation. Born into a Chasidic family, he was orphaned at a young age. He studied first in Lomza, then in Radin under the Chofetz Chaim, and finally at the renowned Mussar Yeshiva of Kelm. He served as Mashgiach at the Yeshivos of Kletzk and Mir in Lithuania, and then Yeshivas Lomza in Petach Tikva. Following the passing of the legendary Mirrer Mashgiach R. Yeruchum Levovitz, R. Chatzkel returned to the Mir to serve as Mashgiach. Together with the other heads of the Yeshiva, he led Yeshivas Mir through its tumultuous exile in Shanghai. After the Holocaust, he traveled with the Mirrer Yeshiva to America but shortly thereafter he returned to Eretz Yisroel, where he assumed the post of Mashgiach in the Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak.
