Classic sefer of halachic responsa (Orach Chaim, Yore Deah & Choshen Mishpat) by R. Ephraim Zalman Margulies of Brod. With an inscription stating the sefer belongs to R. Aryeh Leibush Horowitz of Stanislow. Additional signature of R. Alexander HaLevi Ish Horowitz and an additional inscription (seemingly in the same hand) gifting this sefer to R. Aryeh Leibush Horowitz. R. Aryeh Leibush Horowitz (1758-1854), was a scion of various great Rabbinical families, including R. Yitzchok Horowitz (R. Itzik’l Hamburger) and R. Shaul Levenstam (Binyan Ariel- a grandson of The Chacham Tzvi). A prodigious Talmid Chochom, he served as Rav in Stanislow for more than sixty years. He was held in enormous esteem, and it is related that The Vilna Gaon, The Lubliner Rebbe and R. Boruch of Mezhibuzh all accorded him great honor. His descendants who were also known as extraordinary Talmidei Chachomim later served as Rabbonim in Stanislow. His son R. Meshulam Yissochor Horowitz (Bar Livoi), his grandson R. Yitzchok Horowitz (Toldos Yitzchok) and his great grandson R. Aryeh Leibush Horowitz (Harei Besamim). Another grandson was the renowned R. Elazar Moshe Horowitz of Pinsk. The signature R. Alexander HaLevi Ish Horowitz may be R. Alexander HaLevi Ish Horowitz of Stanislow, who was a son of R. Yaakov Yehoshua Horowitz Rav of Zalovitz and a grandson of The Bais Ephraim. 3, 93, 1. 5, 85. 5, 92 pages. (lacking a few pages in Choshen Mishpat). 36.5 cm.
