He served as Rav in various communities most notably Serdeheli. He was enormously revered by both his Rabbinical contemporaries as well as the masses. Following the passing of the Chasam Sofer in 1839, he was recognized as the preeminent Rabbinical leader of Hungarian Jewry, particularly in leading the bitter and unrelenting struggle against the Reform movement. Author of the Halachic responsa Yehuda Ya’leh as well novella on various tractates of the Talmud.
