“Newspaper” with prayers for Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur. 1945. Extremely rare! - “Newspaper” with prayers for Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur. 1945. Extremely rare! Large broadsheet, printed on both sides, with the basic prayers for Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur. As is well-known, the Nazis not only attempted to annihilate The Jewish People but also invested efforts and resources into destroying all religious texts. As such, in the aftermath of The Holocaust there was a tremendous dearth of seforim. For Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur of 1945, this broadsheet in the format of a newspaper was printed by Agudas Yisroel/Keren HaTorah in London for use in The D.P camps in view of the shortage of Machzorim. An important expression of the Jewish people’s eternal bond with prayer even in the most distressing of times. Dedicated in memory of Solomon and Nechi Wolfson, parents of the late Sir Issac Wolfson, renowned British philanthropist. Additional dedication in memory of Flt-Leut. Ronald Jarvis. This “machzor” is to the best of our knowledge unrecorded! 44 by 57 cm. Very fine condition. Fold marks. Opening bid $300
