Shimon Duran (c.1400-1467) was a son and the successor of R. Shimon Duran (The TaBHaTZ). Joshua Ha-Lorki was an apostate who at the request of The Pope authored various baseless treatises against The Talmud. He was later instrumental in arranging The Disputation of Tortosa concerning The Talmud. This sefer Milchemes Mitzva was authored as a response to those heretical claims. Vinograd Leipzig 146.
