Handwritten manuscript consisting of forty-six handwritten pages on the laws of The Jewish Calendar, Mazalos and Tekufos. With various charts and diagrams in red and black ink. With a handmade volvelle with three circles. The Jewish calendar is Lunisolar; the months are based on the moon and the year on the sun. The knowledge required to make the necessary adjustments has always commanded an interest in astronomy for religious Jews, particularly those with brilliant minds. The RaMBaM devotes an entire section of his Mishnah Torah to what he lists as a positive commandment “to know how to determine which is the first day of each month of the year.” 46 pages. 20 cm.
