Shlomo Luria (Ma’HarShaL). R. Shlomo Luria (1510-1573), known by the acronym Ma’HarShaL, was descended from a prestigious Rabbinical family. He was a leading student of R. Sholom Shachna of Lublin and R. Klonimus of Ostrog, eventually becoming the son-in-law of R. Klonimus. He served as Rov in various important communities, including Brisk, Ostrog and later led a prestigious Yeshiva in Lublin which attracted outstanding students from all over Europe.
