With many important approbations including those of R. Shmelke of Nikolsburg and the Noda B’Yehuda. R. Elazar Kalir (1738-1802), was a grandson of R. Meir Eisenstadt (Ponim Me’iros) and one of the greatest leaders of his generation. He was held in enormous esteem by his Rabbinical colleagues as well as by the general public. He served as Rav in various communities, including Rechnitz, where he led a great Yeshiva, Oben-Yoshon and Kollin.
