Eliyahu Mizrachi (c.1450-1526), served as Hakham Bashi of the Ottoman Empire. These Halachic responsa are of particular historical interest, as they were written during the period of the expulsion of Jews from Spain and the subsequent migration of some Jewish exiles to Turkey. Like most copies, lacking pages 109-110 (responsa 66)-concerning his son’s alleged conversion to Islam. With the signature and stamp of R. Nachum Dov Ber (Berenu) Friedman of Sadigura (the signature was removed from the old binding and pasted into the inner cover of the modern binding). R. Nachum Dov Ber (Berenu) Friedman (1843-1883), was a son of R. Shalom Yosef Friedman of Sadigura (eldest son of R. Yisroel of Ruzhin) and son-in-law of R.
