Aaron Levin with library stamps of R. Meir Schapiro as well as library stamps of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin. R. Aaron Levin (1880-1941) was born into a distinguished rabbinical family and was renowned from a young age for his brilliant mind coupled with great diligence. He studied primarily under his father, R. Nosson Levin Rav of Reisha and his grandfather the renowned R. Yitzchok Schmelkes (Bais Yitzchok), Rav of Lemberg. He served as Rav in Sambor and following his father’s passing in 1926 he succeeded him as Rav in Reisha. He was one of the most influential rabbinical figures in Poland, consulted on every Jewish communal issue and in addition to his rabbinical duties he served as a member of the Polish Sejm (Parliament) as a representative of Agudas Yisroel. R. Meir Schapiro (1887-1933) was known as a child prodigy referred to as the Illui of Shotz. He served as Rav of Galina, Sanock, Pietrekow and Lublin. He founded Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin which became the flagship Yeshiva of Poland as well initiating the Daf Ha’Yomi program which is followed by tens of thousands to this day.
