New York 1902 הלכה למשה/שחיטה. ניו יארק תרס”ב (1902) - Polemic concerning a controversy involving the Schoctim in New York. In the late 19th century a group of Schoctim formed a union under the name ‘Meleches Ha’Kodesh”. The members of this union subsequently refused to work overtime prior to the holiday season, thus creating havoc in the meat industry. R. Hillel Klein who served as supervising Rabbi of the United Dressed Beef Company, backed the Schoctim and refused to allow the hiring of replacements. When the company hired replacement Schoctim regardless, R. Klein ruled that the meat shechted at that Company was rabbinicaly forbidden. R. Moshe Weinberger vehemently disputed this and authored this sefer setting out his opinion. The second section of the sefer is a halachic discussion regarding the authority of Botei Din and Rabbonim when they are opposed by other Botei Din and Rabbonim in the same community.
