Lemberg 1840 תולעת יעקב. לבוב ת”ר (1840) - Important Kabbalistic commentary on the prayers of the year by R. Meir Ibn Gabbai. One of the earliest commentaries dealing with liturgy and the associated customs this sefer is quoted extensively by many of the prominent later commentators, including R. Yeshaya Ha’Levy Horowitz (SHLoH) and R. Chaim Yosef Dovid Azulai (CHIDA). R. Meir Ibn Gabbai was renowned as a great Tsaddik and Mekubal. He lived in Spain and following the expulsion of Jews from Spain he settled in Egypt. His seforim, including Derech Emunah, Tola’as Yaakov and Avodas Ha’Kodesh, were received with great acclaim and are among the fundamental Sifrei Kabolah. Vinograd Lemberg 172.
