R. MEIR AUERBACH/ GIFT TO R. YITZCHOK ELCHONON SPEKTOR! WITH THE STAMPS OF THE FAMED KOVNO KOLLEL! IMREI BINAH. YERUSHOLAYIM 1871. - Imrei Binah part one, with an author’s inscription to R. Yitzchok Elchonon Spektor of Kovno. With the library stamps of the famed Kovno Kollel. R. Meir Auerbach (1815-1878), was born in Poland and served as Rav of several prominent Jewish communities including Kalisch. He was known as the Imrei Binah after his acclaimed Sefer. In 1858, he immigrated to Eretz Yisroel, settling in Yerusholayim, where he filled a vital leadership role. He is also famous for introducing the custom in Yerusholayim which does not permit musical instruments, other than percussion, to be played at weddings. R. Yitzchok Elchonon Spektor (1817-1896), was renowned for his Torah genius, diligence and righteousness. He was the supreme Torah authority of his generation and led Lithuanian and Russian Jewry for many years with understanding and wisdom. In 1864, he was appointed to the distinguished position as Rav of Kovno. His responsa and novella were printed in Be’er Yitzchok, Nachal Yitzchok and Ein Yitzchok. Yoel Moshe Solomon press.
