The Mezritcher Maggid, entrusted his talmid R. Shneur Zalman (the Alter Rebbe), with the task of preparing a “new” Shulchan Aruch with clear and concise halachic rulings incorporating the rulings of the Poskim who followed after the printing of The Shulchan Aruch. The Shulchan Aruch HaRav states the decided Halacha, as well as the underlying reasoning and is authoritative for many Chassidim. It was also warmly received by many non-Chasidim. It is quoted many times by the Chofetz Chaim in Mishnah Berurah, as well as by the Ben Ish Chai. It is also one of the primary halachic authorities upon which R.
