He was influenced by R. Dovid HaReuveini to escape Portugal and became a student of R. Yosef Tiatzik. He was a well-known kabbalist. He was highly influential with connections to various nobleman and officials. On a mission to Germany he was arrested by The Archduke and refusing to denounce his faith he was burned at the stake.
