MAGEN V’TZINAH. REGARDING THE ZOHAR AND KABBALAH. FIRST EDITION. [KONIGSBERG] 1855. - In 1840 the sefer Ari Nohem was published in Leipzig. Authored by R. Yehuda Aryeh of Modena (1571-1648) it explores various doubts and disputes regarding the origin of the Zohar in particular and the study of Kabbalah in general. The sefer Magen V’Tzinah authored by R. Isaac Chaver (albeit published anonymously) systematically refutes those claims and extols the origins of the Zohar and Kabbalah. Includes a section explaining the foundations of kabbalah by R. Moshe Chaim Luzzato (RaMCHaL). Also included, is a compilation by the Vilna Gaon on the topic of “tzimtzum” (page 63).
