Nosson Tzvi Finkel, the “Alter” of Slabodka. The Knesses Yisroel Slabodka Yeshiva was established in 1881 by R. Nosson Tzvi Finkel (1849-1927), a student of R. Simcha Zissel Ziv, the “Alter” of Kelm. Under the leadership of both the “Alter” and the Rosh Yeshiva, R. Moshe Mordechai Epstein, it quickly became one of the most prestigious Yeshivos in Europe. Distinguished alumni include R. Aaron Kotler, R. Reuven Grozovsky, R. Yaakov Kamenetsky, R. Yaakov Yitzchok Ruderman, R. Yitzchok Hutner and R. Elazar Shach. Ohr HaMussar. 5 Pamphlets. Pietrekow 1925-1928. The Ohr HaMussar pamphlets contain many essays by the famed Ba’alei Mussar of Novardok, Kelm and others. The Novardok Yeshiva network was established by R. Yosef Yoizel Horowitz (1847-1919), a talmid of R. Yisroel Salanter and R. Simcha Zissel Ziv, the “Alter” of Kelm. It quickly became one of the biggest and most important network of Yeshivos in pre-war Eastern Europe and included tens of Yeshivos and thousands of students. Distinguished alumni include R.
