R. Weinberg writes that he has written to Rav Hutner and to R. Mendel Kasher, however he has not written to R. Sha’ar Yashuv Cohen because “I don’t know him at all and it is not ideal for me to write to those I do not know”. He continues that there are many Gedolim in Eretz Yisroel who can vouch for the recipient “do they need a lonely man who sits in a remote corner in Montreux?”
R. Yechiel Yaakov Weinberg (1884-1966), was a noted European Rav, Posek and Rosh Yeshiva. He is best known for his work of responsa Sridei-Aish. Born in Poland, he studied at the yeshivas of Mir and Slabodka. In 1907, he was appointed as Rav in his native Pilwishki (in Lithuania). He taught at and eventually became Rosh Yeshiva of the Hildesheimer Rabbinical Seminary in Berlin. After the war, he lived in Montreux, Switzerland until his passing in 1966.
