R. Yosef Yitzchok Schneerson. With an Accompanying Letter by RaSHaG! New York 1942. Seemingly Unpublished!
Unique letter signed by the RaYaT”Z of Lubavitch to R. Yom Tov Lipmann Gurwitz of Melbourne, Australia, appointing him as the “Gizbar Ha’Rashi” (main Gabbai) to raise funds for the Lubavitch Yeshivos and Mosdos in Australia. In the letter the Rebbe mentions his son in law “The RaSHaG”.
Accompanying his letter is a 2-page letter signed by R. Shmaryahu Gouray (The RaSHaG) detailing the activities of these Torah institutions.
R. Yosef Yitzchok Schneerson (1880-1950), was the only son of R. Sholom Dov Ber (Ra’SHaB). At the young age of 17, he was appointed head of the Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva network. In 1920, upon the passing of his father, he became the sixth Rebbe of Chabad Lubavitch. After constant persecution and arrest, he was released from Soviet Russia and went to Eretz Yisroel and then to the United States in 1929-1930. Subsequently he returned to Riga, Latvia until 1934. From 1934 until the early part of World War Two, he lived in Warsaw, Poland. After miraculously escaping Warsaw in the early days of the War, he immigrated to America where he continued his efforts on behalf of the Jewish People.
