Classics. Eitz Chaim. Kabbalah. R. Chaim Vital. First Edition. Koretz 1784. - Fundamental Sefer Kabbalah authored by R. Chaim Vital (1542-1620), with teachings he received from his Rebbe the ARIZAL. R. Chaim Vital recorded the primary teachings of the ARIZAL in his Sefer Eitz Chaim. He writes in the preface “Know that from the day my teacher began to reveal this wisdom, I did not leave him even for a moment. And any writings you may find in his name, which differ from that which I have written in this book, are certainly in error since they did not comprehend his words”. Although with the advent of the printing press many seforim were printed on a great variety of topics, for many years Sifrei Kabbalah continued to be handwritten. This was primarily a means to ensure that they would not fall into unworthy hands. It was not until much later that Sifrei Kabbalah were printed. This Sefer Eitz Chaim is one of earlier printed Sifrei Kabbalah. With many important approbations, including those of the Divrei Chaim of Tzanz and R. Yaakov Yosef of Ostrog (Rav Yeyvi).
