R. Aaron Dovid Deitch (Goren Dovid). 2 Handwritten Notebooks. Partially Written by his Son R. Moshe Deitch. C. 1859. Possibly Unpublished. - 2 long manuscripts of the Torah of R. Aaron Dovid Deitch on various Masechtos in Shas, partially transcribed by his son R. Moshe Deitch and partially by his talmid R. Eliezer Lazagold Segal. R. Aaron Dovid Deitch (1813-1878), was one of the closest talmidim of the Chasam Sofer. In Pressburg he was known as R. Dovid Praguer as he previously learned in Prague. The Chasam Sofer famously remarked that when he (The Chasam Sofer) davens he relies on the merits of R. Dovid Praguer. On another well-known occasion the Chasam Sofer said that R. Dovid is “Mzuman L’Chayei Ha’Olam Ha’Ba!” This unique connection continued with the K’sav Sofer who would don his Shabbos clothing to welcome R. Dovid whenever he visited Pressburg. He served as Rav in Shebacs and later in Beletsh-Yarmut, where he led a great Yeshiva. His responsa was published posthumously under the title Goren Dovid (Paks 1885). R. Moshe Deitch (1846-1931) was a talmid of his father and the K’sav Sofer. A distinguished Talmid Chochom, he served as Rav in Shalgo-Tahrian. Manuscript one: 79 pages (158 sides). 20 cm.
