Warmly received, the sefer remains one of the classic commentaries on Orach Chaim. With lengthy introductions which provide interesting biographical details. On page 97 of volume 2 there is an early map of Eretz Yisroel. R. Yaakov Emden commonly known as the Ya’avetz was a preeminent Rov in Germany who championed Orthodox Judaism in the face of the influence of the Sabbatean movement. Acclaimed for his extensive knowledge and a prolific author, his seforim are extremely highly regarded. Thirty-one of his works were published during his lifetime and ten posthumously, whilst others remain in manuscript. A son of the Chacham Tzvi, and a descendant of R.
