Moshe Chagiz (1672-1761), was raised by his grandfather R. Moshe Galanti of Yerusholayim and was the son-in-law of R. Refoel Mordechai Malki of Yerusholayim. In 1689, he was appointed to serve as a SHaDaR (emissary) to raise funds for the impoverished community and he traveled to Europe, where he remained for the next 50 years. R. Moshe was a fierce opponent of Shabtai Tzvi, and left Amsterdam together with the Chacham Tzvi. He then moved to Hamburg and Altona where he served as a Dayan. World renowned as a tremendous Talmid Chochom, he was a brother-in-law of both the Malki B’Kodesh (R. Ezra Malki) and the Pri Chadash. Vinograd Wandsbeck 39, 41. Yisroel Ben Avrohom press.
