With signed dedication by R. Eliyahu Chaim Meisel presenting it as a wedding gift to R. Dovid Bornstein of Socatchov, whom he refers to as the outstanding Choson, grandson of the great and holy Gaon “Gaon Yisroel U’Kedosho” R. Avrohom (i.e. the Avnei Nezer). Additional inscription signed by R. Dovid of Socatchov stating that he received this sefer as a wedding gift from the great Gaon R. Eliyahu Chaim Meisel Rav of Lodz. With one gloss seemingly by the Socatchover Rebbe as well as various stamps of the Rebbe. R. Eliyahu Chaim Meisel (1821-1912) was born near Vilna into a prominent rabbinical family and was named for both the Vilna Gaon and R. Chaim Volozhiner. At a very young age, he was sent to learn in Volozhin where he was known as a brilliant and saintly talmid chacham. He served in various important communities but he was most well known as the Chief Rabbi of Lodz. His sagacious advice was sought on many important issues by Jewish communities throughout Europe. R. Dovid Bornstein of Socatchov (1878-1943) was the son and successor of R. Shmuel of Socatchov (Shem M’Shmuel) and a grandson of R. Avrohom of Socatchov (Avnei Nezer). Known as a brilliant Talmid Chochom, in addition to his position as Rebbe, he led a network of Yeshivos in Poland called Bais Avrohom. Author of Chasdei Dovid. 2, 178 pages. 34.2 cm.
