Siddur Tefilah Nechona. London 1837 - Siddur Tefilah Nechona. London 1837/ Jews’ Free School. In the early 17th century, the renowned scholar R. Shabse Sofer (died 1620) was commissioned by the rabbinical board of the Council of Three lands to publish an accurate and definitive prayer book. Originally published in Prague in 1617 it was warmly received by many of that era’s great scholars. It was later republished in London from the original manuscript to benefit the Jews’ Free School. This manuscript was among the prize manuscripts in the library of Chief Rabbi Solomon Hirschell. Recently a complete edition was published in Jerusalem from the original manuscript.
