Tractates Kidushin and Nedarim, published by the Va’ad Agudas Ha’Rabonim in the American zone of Germany with the assistance of Va’ad Hatzala. Illustrated title page with illustrations of the extermination camps “The labor barrack where we dwelled, covertly studied and prayed”. In the introduction, the publisher writes about the “taking away the books from ‘The People of the Book’ ” by the “evil men” who destroyed the European Jews and attempted to erase all Hebrew books. All Jewish books were taken to be processed or for some other lowly purpose…and therefore after liberation, the longing and thirst for books is great” Eventually in 1949, a complete set of Talmud was printed in Munich, featuring a different illustration than this original edition. Tractate Kidushin 2, 96, 16, 14 pages. 37.5 cm. Fine condition, excellent paper, some staining. Modern binding. Tractate Nedarim 2, 103, 16 pages. 40 cm. Fair condition, dry paper, previous owners’ signatures and markings on title page. Original binding, spine detached.
