Chaim Brisker, (1853-1918) was a great Talmudic scholar and the founder of the popular ‘Brisker’ approach to Talmud study, a method of highly exacting and analytical study that focuses on precise definition/s and categorization/s of Jewish law with particular emphasis on the Rambam. Following many years as a senior lecturer in the renowned Volozhiner Yeshiva, he became the Rav of Brisk. His primary work was Chidushei Rabbeinu Chaim Halevy; a volume of insights on the Rambam, which was published posthumously by his sons, and is a fundamental work in the Lithuanian school of Yeshivas.
