R. Meir Auerbach. Imrei Binah. Inscribed Copy. Gift to “The Likutei Chover Ben Chaim”. Yerusholayim 1871-1876 - Complete set of Imrei Binah, with an author’s inscription (in second volume) to R. Chizkiyahu Feivel Plaut author of sefer Likutei Chover Ben Chaim. R. Meir Auerbach (1815–1878), was born in Poland and served as Rav of several prominent Jewish communities including Kalisch. He was known as the Imrei Binah after his acclaimed Sefer. In 1858, he immigrated to Eretz Yisroel, settling in Yerusholayim, where he filled a vital leadership role. He is also famous for introducing the custom in Yerusholayim which does not permit musical instruments, other than percussion, to be played at weddings. R. Chizkiyahu Feivel Plaut (1818-1895), was one of the most eminent talmidim of both the Chasam Sofer and the Ksav Sofer, and for a period served as a maggid shiur in the great Yeshiva of Pressburg. In 1849, he was appointed as Rav in the town of Shavran. Although he was only 22 at time of the Chasam Sofer’s passing, he remained bound to his great Rebbe, as reflected in his monumental sefer Likutei Chover Ben Chaim published over a period of 15 years.
