Ephraim Oshry. • Responsa Divrei Ephraim (1949), with a section devoted to heartrending Halachic issues that arose in the Kovno Ghetto. With approbations by the D’var Avrohom, R. Chaim Ozer Grodzensky, R. Isser Zalman Meltzer, R. Yitzchok Herzog and R. Eliezer Silver. With a handwritten inscription by the author. With a comprehensive memorial section of over 200 Lithuanian Rabbonim who were murdered in the Holocaust. Listing their rabbinical positions as well as the date and place of their martyrdom. • Churban Lita (Yiddish) on the destruction of Lithuanian Jewry (1951), with over 150 photographs. Includes an introduction by Chaim Lieberman. R. Ephraim Oshry (1914-2003), was born in Kupishok, Lithuania and learned in the great Yeshivos of Kelm, Ponevezh and Slabodka. In 1934, he received Semicha from R. Avrohom Duber Kahana Shapiro and R. Leib Rubin of Wilkomir among others and served as a Rav in Slabodka. During the War, R. Oshry stayed in the Kovno Ghetto and served as an assistant to R. Avrohom Duber Kahana-Schapiro the Kovno Rov. With the Kovno Rov ailing, many of the halachic questions that arose were put to R. Oshry. Despite the horrific circumstances R. Oshry had the presence of mind to record these unprecedented and heartrending halachic queries. 118; 468 pages. Very fine-excellent condition.
