With an introduction by the author, as well as by R. Aaron Amarillo of Salonica (Pnei Aaron). R. Ezra Malki (1710-1768), was a son of the famed R. Refoel Mordechai Malki, (father-in-law of the Pri Chodosh and R. Moshe Chagiz). He studied under R. Michoel Melamed. Known as a tremendous Talmid Chochom, he was appointed as a SHaDaR on behalf of the community of Tzefas. This led to his appointment as the Rov of the community of Rhodes.
