R. Binyomin Yehoshua Silber to R. Nissim Karelitz regarding the Yated Ne'eman! - Historic autograph letter to R. Nissim Karelitz protesting a Psak that he had heard in the name of R. Nissim that one may use “Ma’aser Money” to subscribe to the Yated newspaper. Additionally, he strongly protests a political gathering in Bnei Brak calling on Bnei Torah להתחזק בדרכי רבותינו” “ and wonders how involving Bnei Torah in politics is “the way of our Rebbeim”, and as to why Bnei Torah should be reading newspapers at all. This historic letter provides an insight of R. Silber’s understanding of the approach of the Chazon Ish. R. Binyomin Yehoshua Silber (1916-2008), was born in Poland and learned in the Novardok Yeshiva. Known as a great Masmid and particularly pious, he was referred to from a young age as “Binyomin Ha’Tzaddik”. In 1933, he immigrated to Eretz Yisroel, settling in Bnei Brak where he became close to the Chazon Ish. Known as a great Talmid Chochom, he authored a number of important seforim most notably 14 volumes of Halachic responsa titled Oz Nidberu. He remained affiliated with Agudas Yisroel even subsequent to the establishment of The Degel HaTorah political party. 22 by 28 cm. Good condition, some staining and slight wear. Opening bid $150
