Tzemach Duran (1361-1444), a native of the Isle of Majorca, was one of the prominent rabbinic figures who fled to Algeria in the year 1391 in order to escape anti-Jewish riots. Published from a manuscript that was hidden with his descendants for 320 years, this sefer is one of the classic works of Halachic responsa of the Rishonim and is quoted extensively by the Achronim.
