CLASSICS. Sefer Krisus. Kelollei HaTalmud. First edition with additions. Verona 1647 - Basic work on Talmudic methodology by R. Shimshon of Kinon. First edition of the glosses of R. Yaakov Chagiz. The Sefer Krisus is a comprehensive work, focusing on Talmudic methodology first printed in Constantinople in 1515. The opening four parts deal with the rules of Halachic derivation, the chronology of the Tanna‘im and Amora’im and the principles upon which Halacha is decided when difference of opinion exist. The fifth part is particularly important, with an extensive elucidation discussing the methods and terminology of the Talmud. R. Shimshon of Kinon (d. 1310), was one of the last Ba’alei Tosfos.
