Rabbeinu Asher commonly known as “The Rosh” (died 1327), is one of the most well-known Rishonim, Best known for his Halachic commentary on the Talmud. He was descended from a rabbinical family, one of his ancestors was R. Eliezer Ben Nosson (the RaAVaN). He had eight sons, the most prominent of whom was Rabbeinu Yaakov author of the Arba’ah Turim.
