Rare Letter of Blessings from the Sacred Gaon Rabbi Yoelish of Satmar. Very Interesting Date ”Be blessed with an abundance of blessing and success” Letter of recommendation with blessings for abundance and success in the margins signed by the leading Admo”r of his generation, the Rebbe Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum of Satmar. His blessings were always completely fulfilled - several wealthy Americans owe their wealth to his blessings - in exchange for their promise to absorb the burden of supporting Torah institutions. It is told that signatures of gedolei hadorot are used as amulets for protection and success (especially but not exclusively those of Chassidic Admo”rim), how much more so the signature of the leading Admo”r of the previous generation, who was especially famous for the supernatural power of his blessings, who blesses, ”Be blessed with an abundance of blessing and success”! Patriarchs of Chassidism famously state that a blessing for success has concealed within it all blessings. The verse in Bechukotai that the Rebbe chooses to note in the margins of this letter is especially prescient: Thursday of the week including the passage, ”You will reside securely in your Land” 1967 [16 Iyyar, May 25th, 1967]. These were the days immediately preceding the outbreak of the Six Day War in the Land of Israel. The security situation was extraordinarily tense and the Jewish people was petrified that all the Arab countries would rise up against it. No one expected the open miracle that happened with the surprising victory of the few against the many. Did the Rebbe, who among his multitude of titles also held the lofty title of Mara D'Ara D'Yisrael, specifically choose the verse of ”You will reside securely in your Land” out of his deep concern for the Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel? (There is, of course, no contradiction to the degree of his zealotry and the uncompromising war of the gaon of Satmar with the Zionists, since the true zealot's heart is full of mercy for all that is called Israel).
