Rare Items from the Lodz Ghetto – Litzmannstadt
An extremely rare food coupon and two sets of rare coins – 5 Mark and 10 Mark (a total of 4 coins) – that were issued by the head of the Judenrat of the Lodz Ghetto. Obverse side: a star-of-David and the word "ghetto" (in German). Reverse side: the digits and decorations.
The coins were for the internal use of the ghetto. A German inscription: "Der Aelteste der Juden in Litzmannstadt" (The Elders of the Jews in Litzmannstadt – that is, Lodz).
Condition: Very Good. The coins are of varying conditions.
